Pacific Rim Hockey Academy

Academics and Hockey

PRHA and Pitt Meadows Secondary have developed a program and curriculum that provides students the opportunity to balance their educational requirements while developing their hockey skills. This program is available for students in grades 8 through to 12. Students can receive credit for Physical Education, Planning, and Advanced Hockey (approved by the School District).

PRHA provides personalized instruction that educates and develops students in both the physical and mental aspects required to excel in hockey. The PRHA, in consultation with students and parents helps design a personalized teaching plan catered to meet each player's individual needs. Students are tested both on and off the ice monitoring their individual improvements. Students may receive fitness assessments, one on one and player profile reports.

PRHA Highlights:

Offers on ice, off ice and classroom instruction during the school year-September 15 to June 15. Consideration and flexibility during exam times and during Minor Hockey commitments will be made to meet student needs. A typical week for all of our Academy players includes:

- 3 hours on ice, skill based instruction

- 2 hours off ice strength & conditioning/week

PRHA Training Facilities:

  • Off Ice: Pitt Meadows Secondary School
  • On Ice: Ridge Meadows Arenas (100 meters) from Pitt Meadows Secondary School
  • Theory: Pitt Meadows Secondary School Classroom.

Off ice conditioning utilizes a variety of training devices and techniques, and and also includes out trips to the Grouse Grind and the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre.

Theory instruction provides players with skill breakdowns, progressions, practice planning, proper nutritional strategies for high-level performance, and individualized strength training programs used by high performance athletes.

Work Experience is organized through Pitt Meadows Secondary and is completed through RPM and Pitt Meadows Arenas and devoted to assisting in the development of Minor Hockey.

Please note a $200 deposit is required at the time of registering  the actual cost of the Hockey Academy is $2000 per year.
